Understand webhooks, API integration, and the delivery decisions that turn business events into traceable workflows.
Webhooks and APIs solve different communication needs
IBM describes webhooks as event-triggered HTTP callbacks within application integration. Instead of repeatedly asking another system for updates, a receiver can react when a relevant event occurs. APIs also support requests for data or actions. Choose the interaction around the job, not the popularity of a technology.
Map the business handoff first
For a commerce workflow, write down what should happen after an order changes state, which application owns that state, and what information the next team needs. This is WebLab Corp's implementation perspective: define the handoff before designing the receiver.
Questions for your integration brief
Ask about authentication, duplicate events, delivery failures, and a recovery path. Decide how an operator will investigate a missing action. These are project-specific design questions, not a promise that every provider supports the same delivery behavior.
